Castillo Hotel Son Vida

Mallorca's Timeless Golf Retreat

Perched high above Palma Bay, Castillo Hotel Son Vida feels like stepping into a different era. This 13th-century castle-turned-luxury hotel combines historic charm with modern comfort and is surrounded by some of Mallorca's best golf courses. It's the kind of resort where you can soak up the island's culture while enjoying first-class golf and wellness.

Arrival & First Impressions

Driving up the winding road to the hotel, you catch glimpses of Palma and the sparkling Mediterranean below. The castle itself is stunning — stone walls, turrets, and beautiful gardens. Inside, it feels elegant but not stuffy, with high ceilings, chandeliers, and artwork that hints at its storied past. From the terrace, the panoramic views over Palma Bay are unforgettable.

Rooms

We stayed in a Deluxe Room with a balcony overlooking the gardens and the city beyond. The décor blends classic and contemporary touches — neutral tones, elegant furnishings, and a marble bathroom with a soaking tub. For more space, the suites offer separate living areas and terraces with even more impressive views.

Golf

This is a true golfer's haven. Four top-class golf courses surround the resort, making it one of the best bases for a Mallorca golf holiday.

  • Son Vida Golf (18 holes, par 71) is right next to the hotel and the oldest course on the island. A beautiful parkland layout with tree-lined fairways and some tricky water features.
  • Son Muntaner Golf (18 holes, par 72) is more modern, with immaculate conditioning and a great mix of challenging holes.
  • Son Quint Golf (18 holes, par 72) is the most relaxed of the three, perfect for a more casual round.
  • Many other excellent courses are within a 30-minute drive for those wanting variety.

The hotel offers a Golf Concierge to handle tee times, transfers, and PGA lessons. Practice facilities are top-notch, with driving ranges, putting greens, and short-game areas nearby.

Spa & Wellness

After golf, we spent time at the hotel's Arabella Spa, which is shared with nearby Westin properties. It's a serene space with a thermal circuit, including saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools, and an indoor pool. The treatment menu features massages, facials, and body rituals using premium products — perfect for recovery after a long day on the course. There's also a fitness centre with modern equipment.

Dining

  • Es Castell — Mediterranean cuisine with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients. The terrace is ideal for breakfast or dinner with views over Palma.
  • Bar Armas — the perfect spot for an aperitif or a quiet evening drink in a historic setting.
  • Poolside Bar — light lunches and snacks in a more relaxed setting.

The Overall Stay

Castillo Hotel Son Vida is steeped in history yet fully equipped for modern luxury. It's perfect for golfers who want access to multiple high-quality courses while staying in a truly unique setting. Add in the spa, fine dining, and those unbeatable views over Palma Bay, and it's a stay that feels both relaxing and memorable.

For a Mallorca golf holiday with a touch of old-world charm, this is an exceptional choice.
