The Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa

Marbella's Golf & Wellness Oasis

Tucked into Marbella's exclusive Golf Valley, The Westin La Quinta offers a peaceful retreat away from the Costa del Sol's busier spots. Surrounded by mountains with glimpses of the Mediterranean, it's a resort that blends relaxed Andalusian charm with championship golf and modern wellness facilities.

Arrival & First Impressions

The resort sits in a quiet hillside setting just a short drive from Puerto Banús. Arriving felt instantly calming — the whitewashed architecture, landscaped gardens, and mountain backdrop all give it a serene vibe. The lobby is bright and airy with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the views perfectly.

Rooms

We stayed in a Premium Room with a large balcony overlooking the pool and mountains. The décor is fresh and modern, with soft neutral tones, a Westin Heavenly Bed, and a marble bathroom with a soaking tub and rain shower. Suites add more space and separate living areas, perfect if you're staying longer or travelling with family.

Golf

The La Quinta Golf & Country Club (27 holes, par 71) is right on the doorstep. It's a unique setup, made up of three 9-hole loops — San Pedro, Ronda, and Guadaiza — that can be combined in different ways for variety.

  • The courses are beautifully maintained with rolling fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and plenty of elevation changes.
  • Scenic and playable for all levels, but still offers enough challenge for lower handicaps.

The practice area includes a driving range, putting greens, and a short-game zone, plus a Golf Academy with PGA pros for lessons. If you want more variety, nearby courses like Los Naranjos and Aloha are just minutes away, and the resort's Golf Concierge can arrange tee times and transfers.

Spa & Wellness

The Heavenly Spa by Westin is a highlight after a day on the course. It has a thermal circuit with a heated indoor pool, sauna, steam bath, hydrotherapy showers, and relaxation areas. We booked their signature Heavenly Massage and it was excellent — perfect for easing tired muscles.

The fitness centre is well-equipped with Technogym machines, and they also offer yoga and Pilates classes. For something more outdoorsy, there are walking trails around the resort and the nearby Sierra Blanca mountains.

Dining

  • Sunsa Restaurant — Mediterranean cuisine with a healthy twist, plus a great breakfast buffet each morning.
  • Aljama Bar — a cosy lounge bar for cocktails and light bites.
  • Clubhouse Restaurant — classic Andalusian dishes with views over the golf course.
  • Pool Bar (summer) — casual lunches and drinks under the sun.

The Overall Stay

The Westin La Quinta strikes a balance between a quiet wellness retreat and a proper golf resort. The 27-hole setup gives you plenty of variety, the spa feels restorative and modern, and you're close enough to Marbella and Puerto Banús if you want a livelier evening out.

For a Costa del Sol golf holiday that's peaceful, flexible, and family-friendly, La Quinta is a great choice.
